On Sun Dec 24, 2006, Christmas Eve day, I called the Evergreen Pet Cemetery for help. I did not know if anyone was going to answer but they did. I spoke to a gentleman and neglected to get his name. I told the man that I was Officer Guy with the Jefferson County Animal Control and went on to explain that an Evergreen resident’s little dog had been killed by two other loose dogs that morning and he had witnessed it. I explained that the dog owner was disabled and very distraught over losing his companion of 14 years. He had been trying to find someone to pick up his dog, Otis, and wanted him cremated, but no one was open. He was having a very hard time and I was trying to help him. The gentleman on the other end of the phone from EPC was very compassionate and understanding. He said that was a terrible thing to have happen on Christmas and they would be able to help. He said Steve would be able to go pick up Otis that afternoon.
On Tuesday Dec 26th our office was doing a follow up with the dog owner, Fred Hinkley. He was very grateful for the help he received from EPC. He said they were going to bill him and he would pay later because he did not have any money. I saw the bill that showed $100.00, individual cremation and ashes to be returned. I know this is a great discount and that you must have decided to give on your own.
I Just wanted to thank you for all of your help in this time of need. Not only was it Sunday but a holiday and a citizen in need. You came through for us and him and were wonderful. Thank you for everything you do and for caring so much about this predicament. I commend you!Officer Guy, Jefferson County Animal Control, Golden
